WVBA Honors Outstanding Statewide Broadcasters at 2024 Excellence in Broadcasting Awards

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Broadcasters Association (WVBA) proudly celebrated the best in radio, television, and network broadcasting during the 2024 Excellence in Broadcasting Awards, honoring exceptional work produced across the Mountain State. 

This year’s celebration was highlighted by the presentation of the Dale B. Miller Distinguished Broadcaster Award to Bob Spencer of Bluefield, West Virginia, recognizing his decades of service, technical excellence, and commitment to West Virginia communities.

Top television honors reflected the strength of local newsrooms across the region.

Standouts included recognition for WOWK-TV, WSAZ-TV, WVNS-TV, WCHS-TV, WOAY-TV, WVVA-TV, WDTV-TV, WTAP-TV, and WBOY-TV for reporting, production, community outreach, sports, and weather coverage.

WOWK-TV was named Television Station of the Year (Huntington/Charleston).

Radio programming also delivered an impressive field of winners, honoring excellence across music, news, sports, and personality categories. High recognition went to stations including WEPM, 580 WCHS, WVMD-FM, WVAQ-FM, WVAF-FM, WDZN-FM, WRZZ-FM, and WQZK-FM, while WEPM (Martinsburg, WV) earned the title of Radio Station of the Year

Network professionals were also celebrated, with MetroNews receiving several top awards, including Network Sportscast, Network Talk Show, and Network Newscast.
